At each iteration of CESIMS, our conference offers delegates the opportunity to engage in different programming related to Model UN and college applications in order to maximize the educational experience we offer to students. CESIMS is excited to share that, in addition to our regular offer of Columbia Campus tours, CESIMS Spring 2026 will feature interactive workshops for students! Our Spring workshops feature opportunities for students to hear more about pre-professional preparation and civic engagement!
Programming Workshops will occur between 2:45 PM and 3:45 PM on April 18th, 2026.
Centering Youth Voices in Politics – A Voter Registration Workshop ft. New Voters
Aside from its central role in developing students’ leadership, debate, and collaboration skills, Model UN is an activity where politics plays a central role. This spring, we are thrilled to offer a workshop on Centering Youth Voices in Politics, where students will have the opportunity to register and pre-register to vote, and talk about their role in the political ecosystem of the United States! Students who attend this workshop will also gain exclusive access to opportunities through New Voters, which offers students the resources to run their own voter registration drives at their school, intern at the organization, or be part of New Researchers, a free summer program that teaches students foundational social science research skills!
Building Your Professional Brand: LinkedIn, Resumes, and Networking
In this workshop, we will navigate the creation and curation of a professional LinkedIn profile. Students will learn strategies to sharpen their profiles and market themselves effectively. We will also review the key components and structure of a strong resume that captures the attention of employers, admissions officers, and selection committees. Lastly, we will engage in in-person networking, giving delegates the opportunity to meet one another and build meaningful professional connections that extend beyond CESIMS.
